OHS Guidelines

Prevention Practices and Quality issues OHS Guidelines to help with the application and interpretation of sections of the Occupational Health and Safety Regulation (“OHSR“) and with divisions of the Workers Compensation Act (the “Act“) that relate to health and safety. OHS Guidelines are not intended to provide exclusive interpretations, but to assist with compliance. Many sections of the Act and the OHSR have associated OHS Guidelines.

OHS Guidelines are periodically updated and new ones added, in consultation with subject matter experts within the Worker and Employer Services Division. Prior to finalizing and issuing a new OHS Guideline, a draft is provided to the Policy and Practice Consultative Committee. This is a standing committee that includes representation from the worker and employer communities.
