National Mental Illness Awareness Week
October 4-10, 2026, is National Mental Illness Awareness Week. This week is a time to raise awareness, reduce stigma, and encourage open conversations about mental health. Since 1990, the week has highlighted the importance of understanding mental illness, sharing lived experiences, and building hope through greater awareness and support.
Mental health affects us all, and creating caring, supportive communities helps ensure that children, youth, and families know they are not alone.
Parents, caregivers, families, educators, and other professionals are encouraged to explore the resources available through Healthy Minds BC, which provides practical tools and information to support the everyday mental health and well-being of children and youth.
